All Services
Forty years of skills, one bench.
Beyond repairs and custom pieces: resetting, engraving, goldplating, appraisals, and honest gold buying — all done in-house at Ever Gotesco Commonwealth.

Heirloom Resetting
Her stone, your ring.
Most families have one: a piece too precious to sell, too dated to wear — so it sits in a box for twenty years, doing nothing for anyone.
Resetting is the answer. We remove the stone from the old setting and build something new around it — a pendant, a modern solitaire, a ring in your own size and taste. The stone is the same stone. The memory is the same memory. It simply gets worn again.
The old gold doesn't go to waste either: it can be melted and used in the new piece, which usually brings the cost down.

Hand Engraving
The part only you will read.
Names, dates, initials, short lines, wedding vows, and the small private things people ask for and never explain to us. We engrave inside wedding bands, on the backs of pendants, on watch cases, on baby bracelets, and on trophies and giveaways for offices and schools.
You don't need to have bought the piece from us — engraving works just as well on gold that already has a history.
One word of advice: on a narrow band, choose fewer words. Deep, well-spaced letters last for decades; crowded ones become unreadable within a few years of wear.

Goldplating & Electroplating
That faded patch isn't damage.
Gold-plated and gold-filled jewelry wears thin over time — first at the edges and wherever it rubs against skin. The piece isn't broken; it has simply lost its surface. We re-plate it in the gold tone you want, at a fraction of what a solid gold version would cost.
Commonly brought to us: faded fashion jewelry in perfect condition, old family medals gone dull, watch cases and bracelets, silver pieces wanted in a warmer tone, and trophies and corporate giveaways.
We'll tell you honestly whether a piece will hold the new plating well before you pay for it — some worn base metals will not.

Appraisal & Gold Testing
Find out what you're actually holding.
We test and confirm the karat, weigh the piece, examine the stones, and tell you what it genuinely is. People come to us before selling, before insuring, when settling an estate, or simply because a piece was inherited and nobody ever knew whether it was real.
Two things worth knowing: not everything stamped is accurate, and not everything unstamped is fake — testing is the only way to be sure. And a piece is sometimes worth considerably more as jewelry than as gold by weight. Know that before anyone melts it.

We Buy Scrap Gold
Selling gold, honestly explained.
Three things decide what any honest buyer can pay you: the karat (we test the piece rather than trusting the stamp), the weight (measured on a proper scale, in front of you), and the gold price on the day.
We accept broken chains, single earrings, bent rings, old dental gold, and damaged pieces of any kind. Plated pieces contain very little actual gold — we'll tell you so plainly rather than let you expect otherwise. Bring a valid ID when you come to sell.
One piece of advice we give constantly: before you sell, ask whether the piece can be repaired or reset instead. Gold sold as scrap is gone; a piece repaired is still yours. We'll tell you honestly which one your piece deserves — even when repair is the answer and we make less from it.

Know Your Gold
Solid, gold-filled, or plated?
Three pieces can look identical in a photo and be worth very different amounts. Solid gold is gold all the way through — it never wears off, can always be repaired and resized, and holds real resale value. Gold-filled is a genuine thick layer bonded onto a base core — durable for years of regular wear. Gold-plated is a very thin coating that wears at the edges over time and has almost no gold value by weight.
Why it matters: only solid gold can be properly sized, soldered, and repaired. Gold-filled and plated pieces can usually be re-plated to restore the finish, but they can't be worked the same way.
Unsure which one you own? Bring it in and we'll test it and tell you — free.
Not sure what your piece needs?
Bring it in, or message us a photo on Facebook. We'll look, tell you honestly what it needs and what it will cost — and you decide from there.
