Our story
Forty years. Same trade, same hands, same standard.
Distinction House of Jewels opened in 1986. In that time we have sized, soldered, reset, and restored jewelry for two generations of Filipino families — the same customers, and now their children.

A family business
The Hands You Trust with the Things You Treasure
The shop was founded and is owned by George Mendoza. It has stood inside Ever Gotesco Shopping Center on Commonwealth Avenue for decades — close enough to daily life that customers drop off a repair with their grocery bags in hand.
A repair is a small act of trust: you are handing a stranger something you cannot replace. Gold that has been in the family for decades. A ring someone is no longer here to give you again. So we do it the way we always have — we examine the piece with you standing right there, we tell you what is wrong and what it will cost before anything is touched, and your gold never leaves our shop.
40 years of doing it that way is the only reason we are still here.
Our promise
How we handle what you hand us
- Your piece is examined in front of you, and we tell you what we see before you leave it.
- We weigh it with you there when weight matters to the job.
- The work is done here, on our own bench, in our own shop. Nothing is sent out to a third party.
- We keep pieces separated and recorded while they are with us.
- The gold that comes back to you is the gold you handed over. When old gold is reused in a new piece, that is discussed and agreed with you first.
If you have been holding onto something valuable because you did not know who to trust with it, come and talk to us first. You are not obliged to leave it.
Come meet us at the shop.
We're open every day inside Ever Gotesco Commonwealth. Walk in anytime — or message us on Facebook first if you'd like.
